FAQ

Questions tutors ask first

Do I have to move my whole history across?
No. Add the students you teach right now and how many lessons they have left — that is enough to start on Monday. The old spreadsheet can stay as an archive.
What exactly does the student see?
Only their own page: lessons left, the next lessons, homework and payment history. They never see other students, your income or your notes marked private.
What if a student cancels at the last minute?
You set the rule once — for example, a cancellation less than 12 hours before the lesson counts as a lesson. Slate applies it for you, so you never have to argue about it.
Can I charge different students different rates?
Yes. The rate is set per student, subject or lesson length, and the package still counts and expires automatically.
Does it work for group lessons?
Yes. A lesson can hold several students, and attendance is marked for each of them separately — every package is deducted on its own.
Can I get my data out?
At any moment. Students, lessons and payments export to a spreadsheet in one click. The data is yours.
